Historien de l’art, romancier, commissaire d’exposition mais aussi globe-trotter, Paul Ardenne est un spécialiste reconnu de l’art contemporain, de l’esthétique et de l’architecture. Témoin de la culture de son époque, ses analyses questionnent la vie individuelle et sociale à l’ère du postmodernisme et de la globalisation.

Auteur de l’ouvrage de référence « Un Art contextuel » (2002), il s’intéresse aux formes d’art non traditionnelles, particulièrement celles qui interagissent avec leur environnement social, géographique ou politique.

Paul Ardenne a été commissaire d’exposition, entre autres, de « La Force de l’Art » (Grand Palais, Paris, 2006), de « Ailleurs » (Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton , Paris, 2011) et du « Printemps de septembre » (Toulouse, 2012).
